Cyprus participates in the 57th International Fancy Food Show in Washington DC, displaying their Unique Cheeses, Food Products and Wines

A selection of Cyprus Food Products and Wines were presented and showcased this year at the 57th Fancy Food & Confection Show by Cypriot Exhibitors.

This year the Cyprus Embassy Trade Center participated in the specialized exhibition International Fancy Food & Confection Show held in Washington D.C., July 10-12 2011 with a National Pavilion as well as the participation of 7 Exhibitors from Cyprus. This year the Cyprus Pavilion was showcasing specialty gourmet food products from Cyprus, such as an array of Cyprus cheeses (Halloumi, Kaskavali, Kefalotiri, Anari) Yogurt, Butter ghee, Loukoumi, Nat Brittles, Soutzoukos, Organic Bakery and Confectionery Products, Honey Spread derived from the combined mixing of rare varietals of organic honey spreads, natural bee honey and organic herb extracts, and many other fine specialty food products.

In addition to the many companies that have participated in previous years, this year a couple of new companies and products were showcased from Cyprus namely; Pavlos Cakes Industry Ltd. Ltd with their Organic Bakery and Confectionery Products, and Aphrodite Delights Ltd. authentic Cyprus Loukoumi, Soutzoukos and Nat Brittles.

The Cyprus Embassy Trade Center’s participation in the Fancy Food show is an integral part of Cyprus’ efforts to promote and expand the export of their unique Specialty food products to the US market. Cyprus Food products are becoming increasingly well known for their authenticity, ethnic and cultural origin, natural ingredients, and consistent high quality, and have an increasingly developed presence in high-end restaurants and specialty food stores.

As the Cyprus Trade Commissioner, Aristos Constantine stated: “Overall the show was a success and resulted in several new Cyprus products finding interested buyers and distribution in the US market. We hope to both continue to increase the market presence of those Cyprus Products already available in the US, as well as to steadily increase the variety and range of Cyprus products in the market”.

The NASFT Summer Fancy Food Show, North America’s Largest Specialty Food & Beverage convention presented 180,000 products this year, including confections, cheese, coffee, snacks, spices, ethnic, natural, organic and more. 2,400 exhibitors and over 80 countries participated in addition to an estimated 24,500 attending buyers from every major segment, including foodservice, supermarkets, mass merchants, natural and organic, gift and specialty retail, according to the Nasft Organization Press Release, many of whom rely on the Fancy Food Shows exclusively to source global products.
